Furniture Ministry

SVdP Furniture Warehouse on Chester Boulevard

Our Furniture Warehouse on Chester Boulevard

The furniture ministry is St. Vincent de Paul’s most widely known ministry. Gently used furniture, and other small household items and appliances, are made available to individuals or families in need. The furniture warehouse is currently located at 980 Chester Blvd, on the north side of the building. We have limited hours that we are open, typically every other Saturday morning. Reservations are required to receive furniture. Call (937)-993-3687 to schedule a time with our volunteers. Referrals from a church, local organization, or caseworker are preferred, but they are not required.

We accept donation of gently used furniture and household items (but not clothing). Call (937)-993-3687 to schedule a time for your donation to be handled by our volunteers.

Changing Lives Forever

Changing Lives Forever is an 18 week program intended to help people transition from poverty to independence. Each attendee is taught valuable life skills intended to empower our graduates to lift themselves above their original circumstances. Our graduates are each assigned a mentor that will remain with them for two years after their graduation to assist them as they continue their transition to a new path forward in their lives, and we collaborate with local employers to assist our graduates in getting hired.

Each program attendee is given a $25 weekly stipend to help offset the cost of babysitting or childcare for the time spent learning. Each attendee also gets a home cooked meal once weekly as well.

Food Ministry

SVdP Commercial Kitchen

Our commercial kitchen will create pick-up meals at our location at 1000 S E St., and also provide wholesale self-created food products.

We will also provide a variety of cooking classes so that people can learn how to cook at home for themselves.
